It's not interesting to direct readers to right-wing hate pages. In the real world Obama is clearly an outstanding person and an excellent president who is commanding huge widespread domestic and international regard for very good reasons (progressive policy on wide grounds, re-engagement with Cuba, trying to re-establish good aspects of US reputation, ably handling financial crisis, moving astonishingly fast and effectively towards climate change and domestic health care policy change). And see his grounbreaking speech in Cairo for the latest: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/04/obama-cairo-speech-video_n_211210.html.
This is not normal stuff for a US president, and certainly not what one could have expected from McCain. The idea that there's no real difference between presidential candidates, and that dems and republicans are the same thing is totally refuted.

I like how RCP was a respectable rag when it (correctly) forecast an Obama win last November, and is now a "right-wing hate page" when it features Samuelson (awarded business journalism's highest honor by UCLA - but perhaps the alumni know better). Or maybe the hate reference was to the Pew Research Centre, whose work was the subject of the article. Anyway, as for the presidnet commanding "huge widespread respect" I know a few score million people who'd disagree with that. But don't take my word for it, refer to this fine right-wing xenophibic loathing site: http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.cfm?ID=1726.

Sorry for my late response; as you may have cottoned, even I am not (to my utter detriment) a regular truecenteer.

This from The Guardian on Obama's impending Healthcare retreat "One of Obama's biggest problems is not the Republicans but conservatives in his own party, the so-called Blue Dog Democrats..."
So the argument's never been that "dems and republicans are the same thing" as you put it, but that the increased Democratic majority masks the increased conservatism of the House. Here at Truecents, we were among the first to point to the Blue Dogs as the source of (much of) this conservatism, while most everyone else was enjoying the starry-eyed phase.

I hate quoting The Guardian all the time, but...

"Alkhateeb, meanwhile, has a different criticism of the president.

'After Obama was elected, you had all of these people who basically saw him as the second coming of Christ,' he told the Los Angeles Times. 'From my perspective, there wasn't much substance to him.'"

Sounds like a youthful Truecenteer.
